Sometimes, being part of a legendary license is not enough to avoid difficulties. The proof with Mario and this spin-off which seems today in very bad posture.
Mix two successful licenses, sometimes it is not enough. The proof with what is happening between Nintendo and Ubisoft around Mario + Cretin rabbitsa series that seemed to have found a certain audience. So what exactly is happening for this license?
Mario + Cretin rabbits is in evil
The great adventure between Nintendo and Ubisoft around Mario + Cretin rabbits visibly touching. According to several sources, the Ubisoft Milan studio had offered a third episode after Kingdom Battle et Sparks of Hope. But this new project would never have passed the pitch course. In the process, the original team would have been dissolved, some members leaving to found a new studio, while the others are now focusing on a completely different hero: Rayman.
It’s Christopher Dring, co -founder of GamesIndustry.bizwhich revealed the information on this spin-off Mario. According to him, the team behind the first two episodes no longer exists in its original form. Ubisoft Milan would have tried to launch a third game, but the proposal would have been rejected. No official explanation, but the progressive public disinterest in the series, combined with disappointing sales for Sparks of Hope, could have weighed in the balance. As a reminder, Nintendo had actively supported Kingdom Battle when it was released in 2017, but had been more discreet for its suite released in 2022. Since then, the dynamics seem to have been out of breath.
Ubisoft Milan Relaunch Rayman
Rather than persistent, Ubisoft Milan is now looking elsewhere than towards Mario + Rabbids. Last May, several job offers surfaced, mentioning the development of a New Rayman game and 3D. Among the positions, we were looking for a senior game designer Specialized in the design of playful, accessible and fun mechanics. These announcements were quickly withdrawn, but visible enough to be talked about a real return of the mascot.
Rayman has not had a new main game since Rayman Legends In 2013. Since then, the character was discreet, appearing only in cameos, especially in Mario + the Sparks of Hope moron rabbits. A return home which therefore seems logical.
