Announced several years ago, the Mass Effect series project from Amazon seems today to gradually take its course. And he could also book a big surprise for fans.
We know, at Prime Videomany video game adaptation projects are currently being produced. And if some have already had the opportunity to see the light of day, as the excellent series Fallout For example, others continue to be desired for the time being. We think in particular of the series God of War et Tomb Raider… but also Mass Effectwhich we hear about since 2021 already. It nevertheless appears that things are finally starting to move, and new elements spotted could today make fans very happy.
Towards an adaptation of the original trilogy for Mass Effect?
Indeed, if we refer to an update brought to the series of the series on Production Weekly, everything suggests that the adaptation of Mass Effect carried out by Doug Jung (Star Trek Beyond) will finally take up the story of the original trilogy of Shepard. Or in any case that of the first game released in 2007 to start, since the displayed summary corresponds exactly to the intrigue of the first opus directed by Bioware:
In Mass Effect, Commander Shepard, an elite soldier, has to arrest Saren, a rebellious spectra agent, who combined with a fatal race of synthetic-organic machines known as the harvesters. While Shepard discovers a vast galactic conspiracy, they bring together a diverse team made up of extraterrestrials and humans aboard the Normandy ship. Together, they embarked on a race against the clock to prevent Saren from freeing the harvesters and annihilating all advanced civilizations.
At this stage, let us nevertheless specify that it is undoubtedly wiser to keep a little perspective with regard to this information. Because if Production Weekly remains a reliable site normally, it is not impossible either that we are dealing with a “placeholder” description, displayed so that the real scenario of the Mass Effect series is revealed. In fact, let us expect a confirmation from Amazon or a member officially associated with the project.
A potential as exceptional as it is exciting
However, if this information should be, there is no doubt that it would be the happiness of many fans. After all, The original trilogy De Mass Effect is one of the most appreciated RPGs today in the world of video games, and there would certainly be material to draw an exceptional series. If only with the casting. Because from Garrus to Liara, via Ashley, Kaiden, Wrex or Tali to name a few, the title of Bioware stages a slew of colorful characters and adored by players.
Obviously, this would also be an opportunity for the series to come back to the birth of Mass Effect mythology, which has a lore as rich as it is humor. And even if it would naturally be to condense everything so that it remains digestible for spectators, we could then be dealing with one of the most worked science fiction series on the Amazon platform. A series which, as a bonus, could then stage universes (via the different planets) and sequences of action all more spectacular than the other.
So certainly, this would require a certain budget and a high level of production, but when we see the work carried out on series like Fallout and The Last of Uswe want to believe it. Especially since, if Mass Effect actually takes over the intrigue of the first game, even the trilogy, it will then be extremely interesting to see the common thread chosen by the writers for this story which, let us recall, is written according to the players’ decisions. Decisions that can sometimes lead to consequences as tragic as it is outstanding, which would certainly be a big asset for the series. In short … there would be enough to make very heavy. We can’t wait!
