Are you looking forward to large PlayStation ads for the PS5? So we have bad news: we should not obviously count on Gamescom for this.
Now that the conferences of the June are over, all eyes are gradually starting to turn to the next high highlight of the summer for the publishers: the Gamescom. Indeed, as every year for more than fifteen years now, the German video game fair will reopen its doors at the end of August with its share of announcements and games to discover, in particular during the Night Live Opening led by Geoff Keighley. But this time again, the party will however have to be done without Playstation.
For the sixth consecutive year, designers of Ps5 have indeed confirmed to the German media Games Wirtschaft that they have “No exhibition project for Gamescom 2025”. In other words, no stand in PlayStation colors will be present between the walls of Kölnmesse from August 20 to 24, which will undoubtedly disappoint more than one. After all, it could have been an opportunity for the firm to present some of its future games to come there, like for example Ghost of Yotei.
The absence of PlayStation, which is unfortunately far from a surprise, is all the more disappointing that it is one of the few publishers not to play the game of Gamescom this year. Because even Nintendo, who was however absent from the 2024 edition, for example confirmed his presence at the event. But it must also be said that between the exit from the Nintendo Switch 2of Mario Kart World or Donkey Kong Bananzathe Kyoto firm has every interest in showing itself to the show to attract the favors of potential new buyers.
Of course, Nintendo will not, however, be the only big publisher present at Gamescom this year. Xbox, Bethesda, Capcom, Ubisoft, Blizzard, Bandai Namco, Konami, Krafton, Sega or Electronic Arts have also all confirmed to having a stand on the show next August, which will allow thousands of visitors to try some of their upcoming productions. Too bad that PlayStation again refuses to play the game so, because it could then have been the perfect opportunity to put the PS5 back on the spotlight.
