Street Fighter: The highly anticipated film has found its chun-li and it is perfect!

Still very mysterious, the future adaptation of Street Fighter continues to enrich its cast with the announcement of the happy elected official who will embody Chun-li on the screen.

If the adaptations of video games have undoubtedly won as production and in loyalty compared to the games which they are inspired by, at one time, it was still very far from being the case. Street Fighter Can, for example, testify, the Capcom franchise having experienced several adaptations massacred by criticism over the decades. Today, the Japanese publisher seems however determined to correct the shot with a new adaptation supervised by the company Legendary, which has just found one of its headliners.

The film Street Fighter presents its future chun-li

Indeed, we have just learned thanks to the Deadline media, it is Canadian actress Callina Liang who was chosen to embody Chun-Li, specialist in martial arts and officers of Interpol, on the screen. A character then well known to fans of the license, the first appearance of which dates back to Street Fighter 2 In 1991. Liang, whose career just started, recently was seen in the Presence and Bad Genius films, both released in 2024, as well as in the Tell Me Everhything series and the big success Foundation on Apple TV+. Charismatic, a woman of action … Callina Liang seems perfect to interpret the fighter on the big screen.

She thus joins a cast for the moment composed of Andrew Koji, who will embody the character of Ryu, and Noah Centineo, who will lend her features to the character of Ken Masters. The actors Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns and Orville Peck were chosen to embody the characters of Blanka, Akuma and Vega in this new adaptation of Street Fighter, on which very few details have so far been revealed. All we know is that this Street Fighter reboot will be directed by Kitao Sakuri, which we have recently seen at work on the film Bad Trip but also on the series Twisted Metal. It will be the fourth adaptation of the franchise to date. She will thus follow up on Street Fighter and Street Fighter films: The Legend of Chun-Li, respectively released in 1994 and 2009, but also to the British Web-series Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist, broadcast in 2014.
