Team Vitality: Performance, Discipline, Asus equipment, the secrets of a professional player!

We had the opportunity to exchange with William “Mezii” Merriman, a key member of the Vitality team and a must-see figure of the Counter-Strike scene, to find out more about his daily life, his performance approach … and his relationship to Asus equipment he uses every day. Because as we know, one of the keys to success lies in the equipment: having quality peripherals makes all the difference, in this case, of the signed equipment Republic of Gamers.

What is a typical day for you, before, during and after a competition?

For us, especially during the competition period, all day, or even all week, is dedicated to preparation. It involves individual training, work on strategies, and a lot of communication with the team.

Before a match, we spend many hours putting ourselves in the best conditions, whether by playing in Deathmatch or by refining our game plans. The objective is to arrive in confidence.

After the competition, we win or lose, it’s always the same routine: we see our games again, we exchange with coaches and teammates to understand what we can improve. It is a constant cycle of analysis and progression, both individual and collective.

Let’s talk a little about your equipment, a crucial element in the setup of any professional player. Having the right keyboard can make a real difference in terms of precision, comfort and responsiveness. You use the ROG FALCHION ACE HFX: What do you appreciate the most about it?

What I really appreciate with the ROG Falchion Ace HFX From Asus, it is how easy it is to handle. As a professional player, I have used a lot of different keyboards over the years, and some require a real time to adapt. There, from the first uses, I was immediately comfortable.

The level of personalization is also a real plus. Quick trigger, the possibility of modifying activation points via the software … These are options that can make a real difference at high level. And even if some players do not necessarily feel the need, for me, it is important to have the freedom to adjust my keyboard according to my preferences, so that it really looks like me. What I also find is that all these options are not reserved for pros. No matter your level, you can adapt the Rog Falchion Ace HFX in your way of playing, and that is essential.

What are the most important material criteria for you when you choose a mouse, a helmet or a keyboard?

For me, absolute priority is comfort. It does not matter whether it is the mouse, the keyboard or the helmet: I play long hours each day, so everything must be easy to use and pleasant over time.

Good equipment is the one that never bothers you when you play. You shouldn’t have to think about it, you must be able to focus only on your performance. If your equipment brakes you, or if you start to have doubts in full competition, it can really get you out of your comfort zone.

This is why I give as much importance to what everything is well adapted: a mouse that holds well in hand like the ROG KERIS II ACE ASUS, a customizable keyboard, a light helmet like the Rog Delta II… These are details, but at high level, it is often these details that make the difference

Between keyboard and mice, what is the most crucial element for you in full game?

It is true that in a game like Counter-Strike, where the precision shooting is central, the mouse plays a fundamental role. This is the tool that you keep permanently, the one with which you aim, you adjust, you move … so for me, it is clearly the most important element.

That said, everything is linked. If you have a mouse that suits you but your keyboard does not follow, it can quickly destabilize you. Both must operate together, in a comfortable balance. But yes, for my gameplay in particular, the mouse is undoubtedly the centerpiece.

What are your projects or objectives for the coming weeks?

The big goal for us right now is clearly the major. It’s a key moment in the season, and we’ve been preparing for a long time. We started very well the year, with already six titles won, and the team is in full confidence.

But with the major, everything can change. It is an even higher level of competition, so we keep our feet on the ground. We hope to be able to continue on this momentum and finish this first part of the season on a positive note, just before the playing of the players.

Personally, I lived a lot of great moments in my career, but what we are building with Team Vitality this year is really special. I know that when I will think back at this time, even if it is only the start of the season, it will be a significant memory.

Update June 23, 2025

Team Vitality wins the major

Team Vitality wins his seventh consecutive title of the year, thus extending a historical series and affirming his domination during an emblematic event. With a level of competition noted and strong issues, this Major of Austin stands out as a major chapter in the history of Team Vitality.

Present since the creation of the Counter-Strike division in 2018, the two French players Dan “Apex” Madesclaire and Mathieu “Zywoo” Herbaut sign up their second major victory with Vitality, the highest competitive distinction on Counter-Strike (the equivalent of a Grand Clem). An accomplishment which strengthens their status of emblematic figures of French esports.

Zywoo also becomes the third player in history to win two MVP titles in Major, and at only 24 years old the 27th MVP title in his career. For his part, Apex won his third major and now has 33 titles gleaned from the “Counter Strike” license, becoming the most successful player in history.

William “Mezii” Merriman also enters the history of the game since he is the first British player to win a major. It is the fruit of flawless involvement and a remarkable performance in the most decisive moments of the tournament.

This exchange with William “Mezii” Merriman makes it possible to better understand the requirements of the high level in esports, but also the importance of a setup that is both efficient and perfectly suited to its user. Thanks to equipment like the Asus Rog Falchion ACE HFX, designed for personalization and comfort, Mezii can focus on the essentials: game, strategy, and victory. While Team Vitality continues successes, she has just won a seventh title in Major. The partnership with Asus Rog therefore stands out as a real performance lever, serving a team, but also of all demanding players.
