The PlayStation Plus will never do like the Xbox Game Pass, even if it disappoints


Sony Interactive Entertainment has made things clear about the strategy implemented for its PlayStation Plus subscriptions, and really does not intend to copy the Xbox Game Pass on a major point.

The PlayStation Plus strategy is paid

He said the PlayStation Plus Premium even increased by 18% over the last twelve months. This subscription, which is the most expensive of the three, is comparable to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate in terms of positioning. On the other hand, there is a difference in size compared to the service of Microsoft: the absence of the large PlayStation Studios outings when they are launched. But on that, there is no need to hope for an evolution. Indeed, the PlayStation Plus will never do like the Xbox Game Pass in terms of day one outings of its games exclusively First-Party as the next Ghost of Yoteieven if it disappoints. « We remained faithful to our strategy by not trying to offer games on the day of their release ».

The exclusives offered to their outings are always no but …

Inevitably, it will be a huge disappointment for some who already find that video games are a luxury today, even more than an increasingly difficult economic context and at a time when games cost € 79.99 excluding promotion. But if Sony Interactive Entertainment does not want to change its strategy, preferring to put exclusives like God of War Ragnarok Long months after their launch on PlayStation Plus, it is because the company has no trouble selling its games. Obviously, not all of them beat the records of each other, but the boxes are numerous at PlayStation.

On the other hand, Sony Interactive Entertainment wants to retain its strategy of day one outings for certain independent games or which come from third -party publishers. A practice that is also done on the side of Xbox Game Pass. « Our strategy is to find four to five independent titles to offer in Day One, and to use this to complete our approach consisting in integrating games released since 12, 18 months or more. This balance works really well for us ». Besides, PlayStation Plus could ultimately receive even more Day One outings from indedy games. « If there were six or seven interesting opportunities, while we would seize them » explained Nick Maguire.
