After the portable PS6, it is PS6’s turn to be talked about through new leaks. This time, it is a question of its power, in particular thanks to the integration of the AI.
While we have already mentioned the last speculations yesterday around the PS6 Portablethe leaks continue to follow at a sustained pace. This time, looks turn to the main machine: the future PlayStation 6. Several alleged technical information, unveiled by the Leaker Kepler (already at the origin of revelations on the Ps5 Pro), allow us to glimpse what Sony could prepare behind the scenes for her next generation of the living room console … and the narrow links she could maintain with the portable model.
An architecture cut for AI and performance for the PS6
According to the latest rumors relayed, the PS6 should rest on a chip engraved in 3 Nm, with a consumption of 15W. It is relatively low for a living room machine, but it suggests that Sony could bet on increased energy efficiency, probably with a view to dissipating less heat while maintaining high performance.
The presence of 16 GB of RAM would be confirmed for the PS6, a configuration equivalent to that of the PS5, but this memory would be accompanied by unpublished components, like 4 MB of L2 and 16 MB cache and Mall (Memory Access Level), absent from current models. These additions could considerably improve loading times, multitasking, and texture management.
IA integration at the heart of the system
Another central element, Upscaling by artificial intelligence of the PS6. Sony would call on the new AMD capacities in this area, via RDNA 5 architecture, or even a derivative called “UDNA”. These technologies would allow the console to offer finer and detailed graphics, without weighing down the raw calculation load. This system would be particularly useful in the context of 4K game at high frequency, or to maintain fluidity in the most gourmet titles. Kepler specifies that Rdna 5 and RDNA 6 would both be based on the same base, nicknamed “GFX13”, which suggests technological continuity than a frank rupture with the previous generation.
Even if the subject has already been widely discussed for the PS6, it should be noted that several of these technical rumors concern both the living room console and its portable declination. The low power fashion recently mentioned for the PS5 would serve, according to some sources, to simulate the performance of the future nomadic console. This mode would delicately reduce the memory bandwidth, which would correspond to the supposed limitations of the portable model (about a third of the bandwidth of the PS5).
Sony therefore seems to work on a complementarity between its two formats. All in order to facilitate the portage of games and maintain technical consistency between the supports. The developers would have little efforts to provide to adapt their titles … which could guarantee a rich catalog from the beginnings of the new generation.
