While the next Opus of Tomb Raider is cruelly continued to be desired, a new series of Leaks may well have revealed what awaits fans in the coming months.
Like a certain Hollow Knight Silksongthe announcement of the next Tomb Raider begins to become a real running gag within the community. Indeed, at each new conference, fans of the franchise hope only one thing: that the successor of Shadow of the Tomb Raiderformalized in 2022, finally shows itself really. But it is once again empty -handed that we came out of the Summer Game Fest. Since then, the next adventures of Lara Croft have nevertheless been the subject of an important series of Leaks.
New leaks for the next Tomb Raider
So of course, as always in this kind of situation, we obviously invite you to the greatest caution. This information, posted on a Thread Reddit which has now disappeared, are absolutely nothing official. Nevertheless, if they turn out, they could then allow to have a slightly more precise idea of what awaits us for this future Tomb Raider which, according to the source in question, would have the name of code “Black Diamond”. The official name of this twelfth opus would not yet be known.
Currently scheduled for an release in May 2026 – a date which would obviously be likely to be changed because of a certain GTA 6 -, this new Tomb Raider should normally be presented around the end of the year, probably on the occasion of the Game Awards 2025. It would then be entitled to a more extensive presentation in the months that follow with, in particular, a big highlight during an event organized in the company of the fans around February 14, 2026. An important date in the history of Lara Croft.
Interestingly, the wave of leaks which occurred in 2022, today identified under the name “Society of Raiders” because of the nature of the script, would actually be completely false. It would indeed be a question of an experiment on the part of Crystal Dynamics to take the temperature with fans vis-à-vis another project. A project that is likely to never see the light of day given the freezing reception that has been reserved for these leaks. Suffice to say that this is reminiscent of the Tomb Raider Ascension case, which then led to reboot the 2013.
A rebooted reboot?
Finally, as for the reasons which could explain why this new Tomb Raider takes so long to show itself, it appears when it would be due to a major overhaul of the entire project, which occurred during the summer of 2023. The reasons and the nature of these changes, however, were not given. However, again, remember that all this information remains of the rumor. Currently, none of this has been confirmed or even mentioned in any way by Crystal Dynamics.
We hope, however, that the silence surrounding the next adventures of Lara Croft will soon receive an end. Because if we remove the exit of the remasters from Tomb Raider 1-3 et Tomb Raider 4-6we are currently dealing with the greatest hiatus in the history of the franchise since its creation. And inevitably, fans are starting to get impatient. However, it is rumored that things should be decanted after the broadcast of season 2 of the Netflix series, The legend of Lara Croftwhich would be scheduled for October 2025… to be confirmed, therefore.
