With the PS6, Sony wants to revolutionize the graphics and put a slap

The PS6 arrives, and it intends to change the situation. Sony and AMD bet on AI to revolutionize the graphics. But what do we know concretely about it?

Sony’s next console is slowly starting to reveal itself. Officially, she has no name yet, but everyone is already talking about the PS6. And if it draws attention today, it is thanks to a close collaboration between Sony and AMD. Their goal? Offer graphics never seen, based on artificial intelligence. It joins les leaks that we were able to discover last week.

A strategic alliance with AMD for the PS6

Since December 2024, Sony and AMD have been working hand in hand on a project called Project Amethyst. It is a technological collaboration focused on the integration of machine learning in video games. And even if the partnership is still young, the ambitions are already very clear.

Jack Huynh, head of the Computing & Graphics division at AMD, recently shared two main priorities: creating an architecture designed for AI in video games, and developing neural networks capable of improving graphics in real time. In other words, it is no longer just a question of boosting the raw power. This time, AI could play an active role in the visual rendering. What good for the PS6.

Of the first visible effects from the PS5 Pro

Even before the arrival of the PS6, certain benefits of this collaboration will be visible on the PS5 for. Scheduled for 2026, this improved version of the current console will integrate FSR 4, boosted upscaling technology with artificial intelligence. Result: clearer, more fluid images, without necessarily exploding the consumption of resources. It is a kind of life -size field of experimentation. The PS5 PRO will serve as a springboard to test these new technologies before their large -scale deployment on the future generation.

Despite everything, we should not expect to see the PS6 landing tomorrow. Sony keeps heading for a multi-generational strategy. The PS4 remains widely used, and the PS5 continues to sell well. Hideaki Nishino, one of the leaders of Playstation, also recalled that Sony wishes to take his time. No precipitation. The idea is to develop the consoles gently, while preparing the field for a real technological jump.

Artificial intelligence at the service of immersion

What makes this project really interesting is the place that artificial intelligence will take. Tomorrow, the graphics may no longer be frozen. They could adapt to what the player does, or even evolve in real time depending on the environment. We imagine dynamic light effects, textures that change depending on the weather, or even more expressive faces on the PS6.

With this technology, Sony and AMD are not only trying to impress. They want to make games more alive, more immersive, more natural. And above all, they want to lay the foundations in a new way of designing video games.
