Fallen into the meanders of video games for several years, Electronic Arts reminds us today the existence of Anthem… to announce that his disappearance is imminent.
You rememberAnthem ? But if you know, the famous bioware game that hit the headlines in 2019 as the final version was far from holding all the beautiful promises made by the studio upstream of its release? Like many, you’ve probably already forgotten it for a long time. And yet, the Electronic Arts service game continued to exist in its corner quietly. But as just confirmed the publisher: the end approach to Anthem, who now enters the last days of his existence.
End of end for Anthem
Indeed, in a recent press release published on its official website, Electronic Arts confirmed that the title servers will be officially deactivated from January 12, 2026. In other words, from this date, it will therefore no longer be possible to access the game regardless of the platform. “Anthem was designed to be a game exclusively online, so once the servers are offline, the game will no longer be playable” Recalls the publisher in his FAQ.
To avoid any disappointments with players, Electronic Arts has also announced the immediate deactivation of all the microtransactions available, in order to prevent more money from being spent in a game doomed to disappear in a few months. However, that premium currency owners are reassured: these can always be spent in play until the servers are closed.
In the same way, Anthem has also been removed from all online stores, so that you can no longer be bought by a new audience. It will also disappear from the EA Play catalog from August 15, 2025. For the good news, on the other hand, the publisher indicates that “Anthem’s outsourcing has not resulted in any deletion of positions” at Bioware. Even if, we are not going to lie, it does not really surprise since the game seems to have been abandoned a long time ago by the creators of Dragon Age: The Veilguard.
