After the very bad and sad news for Kingdom Hearts, make way for a little sweetness for your ears. As a final vestige of an aborted project.
While Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link has been Officially canceled By Square Enix, a final vestige of the project continues to live thanks to the community: its soundtrack. Since May 24, several musical extracts from the version were put online, to the surprise of the fans.
A soundtrack that resurfaces, despite the abandonment of the Kingdom Hearts project
The file, shared by the user @KHWaterBlock on x (ex-Twitter), brings together most of the music heard during the test phase of the Kingdom Hearts game: Missing Link. Available free of charge via Mediafire and Google Drive, this compilation has already been discreetly flowing for some time, but its public sharing quickly reacted the community.
Some fans even relayed the songs on youtube To allow more accessible listening, even if the soundtrack remains incomplete. The gesture was massively praised online, between nostalgia and frustration to see this project abandoned.
A hailed musical work
Although the game has been canceled, the available extracts testify to real artistic care. Music, faithful to the Kingdom Hearts atmosphere, mixture of light orchestrations and more melancholy patterns. If we still do not know if Yoko Shimomura was directly involved, the musical heritage of the series is respected. The returns of the players are also unanimous: the soundtrack was one of the strong points of the project, and its distribution allows at least to keep a trace of what Missing Link could have been.
As a reminder, Kingdom Hearts: Missing Link had to be a mobile game with mechanics inspired by Pokémon Go, but with an important place for the narration. His role? Serve as a link between the latest Union χ events and the upcoming arrival of Kingdom Hearts 4.
But after several reports and laborious development, Square Enix threw the sponge. The studio explains that he did not manage to design a sustainable and engaging experience. The cancellation is therefore final, and raises a question: What will become of the planned scenario?
