Xbox recently officially announced a privileged partnership with AMD for its next console, which has a functionality bringing it closer to a PC.

For its design, Microsoft has announced a multi -year partnership with the manufacturer AMD. This future machine will take advantage of the power of AI, while maintaining a retrocmpatibility with the previous generations of consoles. Another notable element of this future system: a functionality that brings it greatly from a PC.
A next Xbox that will compete with the PC more than the PS6?
This makes several generations that Microsoft’s gaming branch is struggling to compete with Sony on the home consoles market. So much so that, for some time, it has played the role of editor more than a manufacturer, by carrying Xbox exclusives to the PS5, and probably in the long term Nintendo Switch 2. Thus, the brand’s next console in the X could try to tackle another market than that of the PS6: the PC.
In the announcement video of her partnership with AMD below, Sarah Bond, president of the Microsoft gaming branch, has indeed split a particularly telling statement in this sense. “” All of this aims to build a game platform that accompanies you everywhere, so that you can play your games wherever you are. We want to deliver an Xbox experience that is not confined to a single shop or a single device ». Thus, like the Xbox Rog Ally, the group’s Next-Gen console should integrate many shops like Steam, the Epic Games Store, Gog, Ubisoft Connect, and many others. This also finds an echo in Microsoft’s marketing campaign that ” This is an Xbox Speaking of a console, but also a television or a tablet.
On paper, Microsoft’s Next-Gen console could therefore offer as much freedom as a PC, in order to harmonize all its ecosystem, and potentially allow access to PlayStation Games via their Steam portes. Note however that Sony would have the possibility of blocking the appearance of the latter on other platforms. Anyway, the next Xbox should mark a turning point for the hardware aspect of the Microsoft gaming branch.
