Two years after the signing of an agreement between Xbox and Nintendo, things are finally progressing regarding the arrival of Call of Duty on Nintendo Switch and/or Nintendo Switch 2.
It’s now been more than a month since Call of Duty Black Ops 7 was released, occupying the gaming time of many players around the world. Because the critical feedback on this new opus may have been particularly devastating, in particular for everything related to the single-player campaign, that does not prevent it from being among the most played titles on PlayStation, Xbox and PC in recent weeks. A power specific to Call of Duty, which is finally preparing to meet Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Call of Duty soon on Nintendo Switch 2? It’s on track
In any case, this is what Jez Corden recently declared on X, in response to an Internet user castigating Xbox for having failed in its promise to bring the franchise to Nintendo consoles. Because as the latter recalls, this was then one of the publisher’s promises during the acquisition of Activision-Blizzard, where it was declared that Microsoft and Nintendo had negotiated an agreement for “bringing Call of Duty to Nintendo players – same day as Xbox, with full feature set and content parity”.
A promise which, two years later, has still not been fulfilled. However, “the first Switch version of Call of Duty is almost finished and will be released in a few months” assures the Windows Central journalist, generally well informed about everything surrounding Xbox affairs. So does this mean that we can expect a more or less imminent release? Not necessarily, says Corden all the same. “But it is on track and important steps have been taken”he then adds, referring to an exit window set at 2026.
As for the reasons which could explain such a delay between the signing of the agreement and the actual arrival of Call of Duty on Nintendo Switch, the journalist explains that this would be due to the fact that the teams took time to receive the development kits from Nintendo. “Things take time”he explains. Now, as always in this type of situation, let us still insist on the fact that this remains a rumor, and that it is better to wait for an official statement from Xbox, Activision or Nintendo on this subject.
